The Vale

A creative arts centre in Mossley bringing music, theatre and community together under one roof.

Venue essentials
Unit 2 Vale Mill, Micklehurst Road, Mossley OL5 9JL Tameside

The Vale, home to the award-winning Global Grooves collective, is one of Tameside’s most inspiring creative hubs. Sitting on the edge of Mossley’s hills, it’s a place where sound, rhythm and colour come to life, a converted mill that’s now a beating heart of music, theatre and community spirit.

Inside, the venue hosts live gigs, drumming performances, dance, visual arts and workshops that bring together people of all ages and backgrounds. The building buzzes with creativity, carnival costumes hang from the walls, drums line the rehearsal rooms, and the cafe serves fair-trade coffee and homemade cakes to visitors and performers alike.

Inclusivity is at the centre of everything here. The Vale has hosted LGBTQ+ storytelling nights, inclusive dance sessions and creative residencies for queer artists. It partners with schools and youth groups across Greater Manchester to explore identity, culture and belonging through music.

The outdoor space transforms in summer for festivals like The Carnival of the Lights, where the whole community, kids, artists and families, join parades of light, sound and samba. The Vale is a model of what grassroots culture should be, creative, welcoming and full of joy.
