Although technically part of Oldham’s wider gallery network, Gallery Oldham @ Lyceum has become a key cultural venue for the Tameside area too, a bright, inclusive space dedicated to art, education and expression. Located near the borough border, it serves both communities with exhibitions, creative learning sessions and youth arts programmes.
The gallery focuses on identity, heritage and equality, with exhibitions featuring LGBTQ+ artists, local illustrators and projects exploring belonging and community. Workshops in digital art, painting and photography are open to all ages, and free school holiday programmes ensure creativity is never out of reach.
The small cafe is known for its homemade cakes and friendly service, and the gallery team are passionate about inclusion, accessibility and conversation. There’s no feeling of “high art” here, just people, art and the stories that connect them. It’s an example of Greater Manchester’s collaborative cultural network at its best.
