Made by Mortals

Based in Dukinfield, Made by Mortals is one of Greater Manchester’s most imaginative and inclusive creative organisations. Specialising in theatre, podcasting and music, the group works with local residents to tell real stories through professional-quality productions that tackle themes like identity, belonging and mental health.

Its innovative projects, such as Armchair Adventures, a podcast co-created with older people and young creatives, have gained national attention. The organisation frequently partners with LGBTQ+ participants and artists, ensuring queer voices are represented in its storytelling and workshops.

Sessions are open to everyone, regardless of background or experience, and there’s an emphasis on kindness, collaboration and fun. The creative team often take performances into schools, care homes and community centres across Tameside, making the arts accessible to people who might not otherwise engage with them.
