The Tottington Centre

Volunteer-run library and arts hub bringing creativity and connection to the village.

The Tottington Centre proves that community spirit’s alive and well in Bury. When the old library faced closure, locals stepped in, rolled up their sleeves, and turned it into a thriving volunteer-run hub. Today it’s much more than books — you’ll find art exhibitions, live music, craft fairs, children’s clubs, and pop-up cafes, all delivered with warmth and care. The centre champions inclusion, regularly hosting LGBTQ+ story hours, wellbeing workshops, and accessible events for people of all ages. It’s light, welcoming, and full of familiar faces — the kind of place where you’re greeted by name and offered a brew before you’ve sat down. Accessibility is excellent, and the volunteer team are always ready to help. In a world of chain cafes and ticketed experiences, The Tottington Centre reminds you what community culture feels like: homemade cake, shared laughter, and a genuine sense of belonging.
