Rochdale Music Service does what it says on the tin — it gets people making music, together. Based near Oulder Hill, it supports hundreds of young musicians through lessons, choirs, orchestras and gigs across schools and community halls. Evenings often see the centre buzzing with brass bands, choirs, string ensembles and youth rock groups, all supported by tutors who care as much about confidence and connection as they do about chords. Concerts are joyful, family affairs where the whole borough turns out. The service actively encourages diversity and inclusion, welcoming LGBTQ+ young people and working with local charities to make sure no one misses out for financial reasons. It’s music education with Northern heart — loud, proud, and full of community spirit.
