Inside the same building as Waterside Arts, the Sale Waterside Library has evolved far beyond a traditional library. It’s a bright, open space where books, technology and creativity come together, a cornerstone of Trafford’s cultural life and one of the most forward thinking libraries in Greater Manchester.
The library offers everything from classic lending to digital learning labs, coding clubs and creative writing groups. Its Storytime and Art sessions bring families together, while adult learners can join photography, podcasting and design workshops. Staff are known for their friendliness and for making everyone feel at ease, it’s the kind of place where you can study, socialise and discover new skills all under one roof.
The library regularly displays local artwork and photography, hosts small exhibitions, and runs community events in partnership with schools and local organisations. Many sessions explore themes of identity and belonging, encouraging young people to share their voices through art, writing and digital media.
With free Wi Fi, modern facilities and a relaxed reading cafe nearby, Sale’s library feels as much a cultural venue as a public service. It embodies Trafford’s belief that access to creativity should never depend on privilege, only curiosity.
