The New Adelphi Theatre, part of the University of Salford’s creative campus, is one of the city’s most exciting cultural spaces. Opened in 2016, it’s a state of the art venue that’s as welcoming to the public as it is to students, a space where live music, theatre, dance and performance art collide in spectacular ways.
The theatre’s ethos is rooted in openness and innovation. Its programming brings together emerging talent, community groups and professional artists, creating a melting pot of ideas and experiences. LGBTQ+ inclusion runs throughout its work, with collaborations and shows that explore gender, identity and social change. The venue regularly hosts Pride themed events, student drag showcases and performances that centre queer artists.
The building itself is striking, a glass fronted beacon for creativity on campus, with a bright foyer, bar and exhibition spaces that host visual art and installations from local creators. The on site cafe serves good coffee, cakes and light bites, and the staff are warm, approachable and community minded.
New Adelphi Theatre has quickly become one of Salford’s most important creative hubs. It bridges university and city life, encouraging collaboration and celebrating difference. It’s a place where young performers find their voice, audiences find connection, and Salford’s creative future is nurtured in real time.
