Bolton Little Theatre

Intimate, volunteer-run theatre producing plays, comedy, and community nights with flair.

Bolton Little Theatre might be small, but it’s got huge heart. Run entirely by volunteers, it’s been entertaining locals since the 1930s with productions ranging from classic drama to modern comedy and brand-new writing. The space feels like home — red velvet seats, the smell of coffee in the interval, and a crowd who are always up for a chat. The company prides itself on being inclusive and community-led, with open auditions, backstage opportunities, and social nights that welcome everyone. LGBTQ+ members are well represented on and off stage, and recent productions have tackled themes of identity and belonging. Accessibility’s improving, with ramps, helpful ushers, and a friendly front-of-house team. You’ll find the same spirit here as at any professional theatre — just with more tea, biscuits, and Northern humour.
